I wish I can give you a number of how many cookies I ate...

Yesterday was a busy busy day and now I'm paying for it with exhaustion. I only worked a few hours yesterday in the kitchen since I had to work in the evening. The chef was sooo nice. He was like, "okay since you have to work later, take the rest of the day off." Aww...he's great. Fantastic :) I was suppose to be at the kitchen at noon, which put me in an awkward spot for lunch. So I had handfuls of grapes that my mommy put out for breakfast. They're seeded. I know, the seeds and all. But seeded grapes have a lot less sugar. In the end, natural sugar or not, sugar is sugar. It's okay, I have a HUGE weak spot for sweets.
For those who haven't tried this comb, it is to die for. Yum. All I did was mash a ripe avocado, spread it on (my fav) toast and sprinkle a lit' bit of salt. Because the avocado is a fat source, once it gets on hot toast, the heat melts it and gives off this wonderful aroma. Why use butter or cream cheese when you have this?

Right before I left, I whipped up a butter cookie batter. Man, 98% of the time I never follow recipes to the T and pretty much never when it comes to cooking. I just dumped all the ingredients and all into a bowl and started to mix. Y'all should know my right arm is significantly stronger then my left and I think it's partially due to the fact that I mix everything by hand. I have a hand mixer as old as I am but do I really want to get it out?
Excuse me while I taste the batter... or should I say a bite or two...or three... It's really good and buttery. I rolled the dough into plastic wrap in logs and stuck it in the fridge.
Many of these weekday functions and lunches are no big deal. I'm still really surprised at how much of the foods come from packages or boxes. But let's just say, I made this veggie dipping sauce from scratch with a ranch based and a healthy amount of paprika and of course the chef helped me

Cheesecake was from a box but this was good cheesecake. I pipped this whipped cream (from a bag) and spooned strawberry sauce (from a can) on all 70 slices. Oh ya. I just can't wait for Saturday when there 's a wedding!!! Super excited. The menu look so much more interesting. Ex. baked fig and goat cheese flat bread or mini beef wellington.
I also pipetted some of these famous herb butter. Holy yum, it had such a fragrant herby smell. Can't give you the recipe! But honestly just google "herb butter"
I got my hands on some mashed potato. This you guys is a commercial stand mixer. It is HUGE! In went a pound of butter, half and half, water and salt and pepper. Simple but oh so good. Me being me, I sample everything! These people here are such great people. It's clear as day they care about each other. I know in many instances, kitchens are full of chefs yelling. But this chef is laughing, making jokes and seems like having the time of his life. He's silly.
It's raining, it's pouring
the old man is snoring
He went to bed and bumped his head
and couldn't get up in the morning

Okay, brace yourselves. My mommy (love her to pieces) cooks dinner like this almost every night, making sure her kiddos are healthy and have a hot dinner in their stomachs. This is what I want to show everyone.

Okay, hold on tight. Guess what this is. It's one of my favorite foods so don't judge yet. Don't scroll down till you're ready. Ready? You got your guess? Okay let's scroll down.
Ha! I'm just laughing as I type this imaging some of your faces. It's silkworms :) Yup, the silkworms that make your silk. My mom got it in a can from Asian Market Columbus on Sawmill but you can get them fresh in Asia. Just simply sauted it with some scallions really brings out the nuttiness of it, the crunch and the creamy center. Hey, don't judge till you tried it. Holy yum.

Baked off the butter cookies and guess what? I lost track of how many I ate after like 6 before I went to work then had another like 10 cookies after work. But I really don't know... oh well it was crumbly and sweet. I talk about working at Graeters some other time. I always feel like I have so much to say and so many opinions. But it takes a long time to get the pics on the computer, get the pics online in the correct order, think about what to write, type out the post, preview it, proofread it, correct it then publish. Ya, so it takes a long time but I really love seeing my work and my entire day in these posts. It's so cool.
See you later for today's post.
